The book explores different dimensions of child protection by dint of national policies relating to children, relevant legislations, judicial pronouncements on child rights and copious International Conventions on Child Rights.
The purpose of this book is to create awareness among children and other stake holders pertaining to child rights and existing child related legislations so that the reader gets conversant with various platforms on child protection mechanisms.
The book is divided into three parts. Part-I relates to historical aspects of child development, child rights, constitutional protection, numerous national policies, programmes and schemes related to children.
Part-II covers the international framework adopted for child protection and development by the United Nation and other Regional Instruments for children.
Part-III comprises of relevant national legislation related to children namely the Right to Education Act, the POCSO Act, the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and the Juvenile Justice Act. An attempt has been made to explain the forms of child abuse like corporal punishment, sexual abuse, child marriage, pornography, trafficking etc.
