Since after passing of the Indian Penal Code in the year 1860 so many legal luminaries produced their works on the subject, but yet question of framing the charges for the penal offences remained unsolved.
Although the subject falls under Chapter XVII of the Code of Criminal Procedure, but it largely concerns the offences, whereas Chapter XVII of the Code studies the various aspects of framing the charges.
Based on the same, the authors and commentators on the Indian Penal Code formulated guiding formats for framing of the charges.
